OUR PROOF
A Lighter Load
A private university system with campuses in three states was experiencing inconsistent spikes in monthly utility bills, particularly at the beginning of each academic year. Facilities managers lacked time-series data to succinctly identify root causes. We aggregated interval meter data across all sites, identified synchronous chiller and AHU startups during morning class prep, and implemented a staggered start sequence across facilities. We also introduced a demand response strategy with the local utility, enabling load-shedding during high-price events. This initiative resulted in avoided annual charges of $310K and generated $50K in new incentive revenue.
